In my quest to define "Women of the Green Generation" I am currently finding myself in the unique position to be able to expand on the definition of "Green" and the potential it has of meaning.
In other words, does "green" simply mean being eco-friendly and sustainable? Or does it have some deeper hidden meaning and significance?
In forming our concepts and visions for the WOTGG Conference that is being planned for this June 2010, the term "green" came up many times- and we are wondering if it is a limited word? Are we pigeon holing oursleves into being just another sustainable group producing yet another "green" event?
But my thoughts and feelings are that the word "green" can have many meanings, as it seems everyone I talk to these days has a slightly different definition of what "green" means to them.
Many people have asked me what Women of the Green Generation is really about and the basic summary I give them is that, "WOTGG is a networking group dedicated to fostering relationships with other professional women involved in sustainable business."
But as the group has grown and progressed over the past months I am starting to realize that we are so much more than that. Because essentially what we are striving towards is creating a new paradigm of how we can work and co-exists together. The new paradigm of course includes sustainability and eco-friendly practices. But we are not limited to this, infact I fear that if we only focus on being "sustainable" and "eco-freindly", then essentially we are forgetting the real reason why the planet and man kind is in a crisis mode to begin with. We have lost our commitment to family and community - and genuine caring for each other and the planet.
So as we continue to form our vision for the June 2010 WOTGG Conference we invite you to share with us what "green" means to you and any ideas you may have on creating an amazing event.
